Building

Three things are running. Each one is live, in front of real people and maintained by one person.

Modus

Every frontier model on one subscription, on the web, on macOS and on your phone.

The Modus home page on warm ivory, headline reading Every model, one software, above a dark app window with the model picker open on Claude, GPT, Gemini and Llama.

Why it exists

Paying four labs separately for the same month is the normal way to use frontier models, and it is a bad deal. Modus is one subscription that reaches all of them.

It runs on the web, as a macOS desktop app and on iPhone, with the same account and the same history across all three.

What is shipped

  • Routing across Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and xAI, with per model cost accounting so a mispriced model cannot quietly drain a plan.
  • Stripe billing end to end: tiers, annual pricing, a stackable limits add on, a customer portal and the webhook handling that keeps a lapsed card from staying on a paid plan.
  • Connected context over MCP, so a chat can reach the tools and files someone actually works in.
  • A desktop screen assist on a global shortcut and a metered free tier that stays cheap to serve.

Finawo

Banks, cards, Stripe and inventory in one ledger, with runway and burn kept live.

The Finawo home page on deep green, headline reading Know your numbers before they know you, beside a panel showing cash on hand, runway, net burn and monthly revenue.

Why it exists

Founders find out they are out of money about a month after it was decidable. Finawo pulls the accounts into one ledger and keeps runway, burn, profit and a thirteen week forecast current instead of quarterly.

It is a finance tool with an assistant on top, not a chatbot that happens to see your bank.

What is shipped

  • A double entry ledger with real migrations and an advisory lock, because a finance tool that double counts once is finished.
  • Bank and card connections through Plaid, categorization, export, budgets, invoicing and inventory.
  • Self hosted auth, Stripe subscriptions and an assistant that reads the ledger rather than guessing at it.

teximos

A publication about technology: what shipped, what it does and what it costs when it breaks.

The teximos home page, near black and strictly monochrome, set in a text serif, with a deep field telescope image leading the archive.

Why it exists

Model releases, product decisions with the reasoning left in and real incidents with the code attached.

Written so anyone who works near software can read it, not only the people who wrote it. Some of it comes out of systems I built and broke myself, which is the only reason the numbers and the offending code can be shown in full instead of paraphrased.

What is shipped

  • Static site, no tracking beyond what the host already sees, full text search and a real RSS feed.
  • A copy guard in the build that fails on an em dash, an en dash or an emoji, so house style is enforced rather than remembered.
